Leanne O’Connor is a cross-disciplinary artist-maker who is interested in the hidden, obscure and benign qualities of artifacts, archives and narratives. From an Irish Working-class background, O’Connor is constantly curious as to the recording techniques of communities and how these records and remnants inform collective memory and cultural identity, with a current focus on the industrial decline within the community of Smethwick. Leanne is currently working with CHAS ( Community, History and Archives service) in researching their expansive Chance Glass collection, activating their contents in the production of a new body of sculpture.
