My name is Molly Nolan and I was born in Dudley in 1928, so I am 90 this year. I had 4 children, 2 boys and 2 girls – they all died except 1, my son who is now 69.
This photo was taken when I was 16. I went to the photographer’s on the high street at Round Oak in Brierley Hill to have a photo taken of my nephew. The photographer asked me if he could take mine too. He said he wanted one to put in the windows and he would also give me a copy.
I think I have had a good life. I have always had to work hard and we weren’t very well off. My husband worked in a brickyard, and I worked at the Round Oak Steelworks, and then after that I worked on the buses. In the steelworks, well they used to send the steel across and I had to cut it with a saw, sawing all day. I did that for 4 years.
